St. Elizabeth was named in honour of Lady Elizabeth Modyford, wife of Sir Thomas Modyford, Governor of Jamaica between 1664 and 1671. Black River, among the oldest towns in the island, is reportedly the first to have received electricity. Though the social scene has changed significantly, the parish has forged ahead in agricultural production, providing the bulk of Jamaica’s vegetable and fruit provisions.
I need a DNA test, but don't want to be seen at the clinic and my house is crowded. Where else can we meet?
St Johns Anglican Church
Originally constructed since 1774, we can say this church was built to last. Due to its popularity over two centuries as a place of meeting and greeting people, we have chosen it as our suggested meeting point in St Elizabeth. If for any reason you cannot have your DNA collected at home, you can ask your DNA assistant to meet you anywhere you like including the church.
We are here to help.
